Winamp 5.5 is released, 10th aniversary

Winamp arrived today at 10 years of developing and 5.5 version of the player. I had download it and I saw that there are a lot of new things.

Winamp 5.5 brings new features like:

  • A Redesigned Unified Interface, including Album Art
  • Remote Music and Video Playback and Sharing
  • Playlist the Best Music on the Web with Media Monitor
  • Dynamic Song Recommendations Playlist Feature
  • Multi-channel MP3 Surround Support
  • New Visualizer Plug-in – Milkdrop 2
  • Album Art Support for Portable Devices

And it improves: Portable Device Sync support, Expanded Podcast Directory, Smart views with new pre-sets for dynamic playlists.

A lot of cool thing for a freeware software. It is true that if you upgrade to pro you will have new features like ripping and burning CDs, but there are a lot of good freeware for those jobs.

Go and download winamp and start enjoying your music.

Web Photo Album Generator from Vicman

I had discovererd a new website those thise, VicMan`s website. VicMant is a small company that develops small software. One of them is this Web Photo Album Generator, a very stylish photo album generator.

First Step: Album name & Template

After installations you will get an window for a new photo album, you should  instert the gallery title and the template (first big plus, it has a lot of cool templates). This is first step.

Firststep

Adding Photos to your web album

After this you should start to add some photos. I added about 262 photos and it loads in few seconds. In this seconds it generates thumbnails, it reads photos names, it put thumbnails in web page, it generate pages (you can choose how many thumnails per page will be). Amasing.

Step2

Customize and publish your album

You can customize your template adding some html code in your header and in your footer. Tha future web album will be a static one with .html files, if you add some code it will be visible in all those pages.

You have two choices about publishing your ablum: uploading it to pho.to or exporting in a folder in your computer. I have exported in my computer. It takes only 1 minute to export 30 MBs of photos, thumbnails, .html pages and other things like that. And this is just cool.

And this is all. I love this freeware. I put it in my top 50 freeware list, I will publish this list when it will be full.

Launchy – Freeware Keystroke for Windows

Launchy is another useful software for Windows. Launchy is a free windows utility designed to help you forget about your start menu, the icons on your desktop, and even your file manager.

Once Launchy has been started, it hides in the background. You bring it forward by holding the alt key and tapping the space key. You then type in a few keys of the program you are searching for and hit enter once it has been found. You can also make Launchy dissappear again by hitting escape or alt+space.

Qliner Hotkeys is a freeware keyboard productivity envoirment software. It is the first product of its kind that is usable by computer geeks and non geeks alike.

Smart application launching and switching

Hotkeys is smart in the way it launches applications and opens documents. When a key combination is pressed hotkeys will first try to find an existing instance of the requested application or document and bring that to the front. This behaviour can be overruled by holding the Alt key, which ensures that a new instance is allways launched. If no existing instances are found a new instance is started. If multiple instances are running the Instance Switching menu is displayed.

Drag and drop configuration

Holding the Windows key for several seconds, or pressing Win + Z shows the on screen keyboard. It is an easy tool to look up existing key combinations. The keyboard is also used for drag and drop configuration: you can drag the icons on the keyboard to different keys or drag new items onto the keyboard.

The keyboard is highly configurable. You can change the color and layout to make it match your actual, physical keyboard. Besides support for more than 100 international keyboards layouts, hotkeys also supports Dvorak layout.

I use it and I am very happy. It works good, it helps me a lot. There is also launchy, another freeware similar to this. I will tell about Launchy in next post.

StarBurn – A freeware CD Burner software

I had used Burner XP Pro for a long while but I found some annoyning bugs and I had quit. About a week ago I discovered StarBurn, another freeware CD Burner. I was curious, I download it and I start burning some tests CDs. It works perfect.

This is Star Burn (click on image), It can burns DAta, Audio, Video or images, it can erase rewriteble CDs, It has an XP stylee and it is very fast. Those are resons because I use it on writing my CDs.

AIMP – Winamp clone or a real rival?

I have been using AIMP Classic for a long while and I realy don`t want to cancel it for Winamp. First, because is a freeware software and I love freewares (when they are good) and second because it has features that are makeing Winamp not so good.

Aimp

This is AIMP, It looks like winamp at all but it is not. The producer is a russian but at download the default language is English and it has other languages too (spanish, german, etc.). It cames with features normal for an media player:

  • it reads usual formats (mp3, wma, avi, wmw, cda, midi, flac, mpc, etc.);
  • it has playlists (and is very easy to work with its playlist);
  • it has an default equilizator (it works very good);
  • it supports skins, there is a skin download center;
  • it has an AudioGrabber feature, it can copy CDs;
  • it has an Auto-Shutdown feature for the player or even for the computer.

Aimp Classinc it also mixing the music between songs, it also cans record vocies, it cans convert audo files and it cans edit audo file tags, three features that are working very good and that are not on winamp.

So, here are the resons because I use AIMP and no winamp. It has the same aspect with winamp but is a mediaplayer, how should it looks?

Post2Blog – Paid to freeware

Post2blogPost2blog is one of greatest blog desktop editors from the freeware world. I have first tested this when it was a paid software and I was fully complacent. It was better then freeware ones but not enough to buy it.

About 3 months ago it becomes freeware, I download it and I use it right now, at this post. It has a lot of tools, it is a little bit useful than others, it has its minuses but per total is good.

Post2blogeditor

Upthere is the editor, it has some useful buttons, some general buttons but it has some tools that are not in editing bar like tabel, sub and superscript, pre and others like that.

Addingblogs

Adding blogs becames also a very easy proces, all you have to do is to enter your weblog adress, the software will detect your platform (or it should be), or you will choose from a list of plaftorms (a long list).

Skins

This editor has a lot of skins too. I love customizating my applications, skins are perfect. It has some design minuses (there is a lot of Times New Roman) but skins help you a lot.

So, this is Post2Blog, a useful, complex, freeware application for bloggers. I love it, I write with it on all my weblogs, it has a lot of tools (more than other freeware or paid desktop editors), developers are still developing at it, it has skins, languages. From my opinions this is the best blog editor, freeware or paid.
